dSpace completes tool portfolio with sensor fusion technology
RTMaps is a component-based software development tool that enables users to acquire, time-stamp, synchronise and play back data from multiple sensors and vehicle data bus systems. Through block diagrams and integrating of C++ and Python code, the tool facilitates integration, test and benchmarking of sophisticated functions in the area of signal and image processing and multi-sensor data fusion. Component libraries for signal sources like cameras, radar sensors, laser scanner and vehicle data buses as well as for functions such as data visualisation, communication and pre-processing support function development.
Besides development of ADAS and automated driving functions, RTMaps can also be used for the development of software for mobile robots and human-machine interfaces.
dSpace plans to integrate RTMaps into its own range of software development and test tools. Towards this end, the company has developed an interface that is custom-made for low-latency bidirectional communication between RTMaps and existing dSpace platforms. In addition, it is possible to connect dSpace’s experimentation and visualisation software ControlDesk Next Generation with RTMaps, enabling users to monitor and parameterise the components implemented in RTMaps at runtime.
Intempora is a spin-off of the Robotics chair at the Mines ParisTech elite university. Launched in 2000, the company has significant expertise in machine seeing and object identification in real-time. The company is member of the Groupement ADAS, a team within the French Mov’eo cluster that drives the development of sophisticated driver assistance systems.
“This cooperation is an important milestone in our strategy to offer a complete tool chain for ADAS and automated driving”, explained André Rolfsmeier, Lead Product Manager for Advanced Applications and Technologies, dSpace, during the cooperation announcement at the Embedded trade fair in Nuremberg. He added that dSpace will introduce a new prototyping system for vehicle-based ADAS development that will complement RTMaps.
Through the agreement, dSpace will act as exclusive sales channel for Intempora worldwide with the exception of France where the company will continue to sell its product directly.
